Cake for Krista

Today was my sister-in-law Krista's birthday so I made her a horse-themed cake. On Monday I got to babysit a couple cute little girls and was really happy that Chloe got to socialize with them. On a super happy note, my brother-in-law Jared got a super great BSA job here in Georgia today!!! He had a 12 hour interview and just a few hours later they called and told him he got the job. He really deserves it and we're all super happy for him.
On a less-than-happy note, we lost our dream Dogwood home. Dag nabbit!! We had it in the palm of our hands (finally!) and lost it because of an error made by our agent. I am so glad we have replaced her with someone who will take good care of us and we hopefully won't loose any more houses. We knew home buying was a challenging process but our unyielding stream of "bad luck" is just unnecessary.

We got the house!!

WE GOT THE HOUSE!!! Strangely, it's not the house we've been waiting to hear back from (6200 Holt). It's the original house we bid on several months ago (although it's still the same neighborhood). Brad has compared this house to Moby Dick. We've been hunting it forever and it's only laughed at us. We bid on it 3 times over 2 different silent auctions and lost all of them. Now after all this time they've come back to offer us the house. Yay!!! I'm not worried about it passing the inspections since it's only 6 years old and in beautiful condition. Of course, we'll still get the inspection but at least I'm not stressing over it.

Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!
Today was a fun and busy day including a trip to Walmart, the shoe store, getting a hair cut, going on an excursion with my sister-in-law (Krista), and watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks on my in-law's projector. I gotta be honest, that movie used to creep my out as a kid. I still loved it though.
Chloe has found a whole new source of fun with our bathroom scale. She's figured out how to make it glow and actually record her weight. She think it's the bomb-diggity.
No word yet on our house offer. Hopefully Monday, but we do feel good about it. Even the fortune cookies from our last Chinese take-out were very promising ;) Actually, a month ago I got a fortune cookie that said "Moving to the South will bring unexpected happiness". We thought it was so cool we tacked it to the kitchen cork board.
It's a full house right now as we have 9 people living here. My mother and father-in-law are so nice to take the whole family back in, but I'm still sure they're happy to have everyone back together again, even if it's only for a little while. I, too, have been enjoying this full house. It's been a long time since we've all been under the same roof. Plus, there's always someone willing to babysit Chloe so Brad and I can go on our Friday night date. Last night we double dated with Brad's parents and saw Super 8 at the dollar theater. I was very impressed with that movie. It was very well made, hilarious at some parts, and reminded me a lot of E.T. It was a kid's thriller but still had the ability to creep adults out. Although it had a totally different plot line and was a mixture between Tremors and Jurassic Park...alien style.
I hope everyone has a great Sunday tomorrow!

New house, new offer

We sadly lost our contract with the house on Wedgewood drive; however, we're happy to jump back into the house hunt, this time with a fresh new start. Today we put in an offer on a great house that we like even more than the Wedgwood home. It's in the same great neighborhood as the original house we bid on. Here's a pic. Wish us luck!

Angry Birds Cake

Today my father-in-law and brother-in-law finally made it home after their drive back from Utah. I decided to make them an Angry Birds cake in honor of their safe travel and just because my mother and father-in-law love Angry Birds. We haven't cut into it yet but I'm hoping it will taste delicious.

Church

We just got home from a wonderful day at church. Chloe looked so cute in her pock-a-dot dress and pigtails. Since she's new in the ward and new in nursery, the teachers tape her name to the back of her dress so they can learn it over time. When Brad and I were asked to substitute nursery several weeks ago, a couple other teachers helped us out by taping names to the back of every kid. It was really fun and cute :) Chloe is taking her nap now and I'm about to start making some delicious chicken tamale casserole. Yum!

Out on the town

Last night Brad and I had a super fun date while his mom and sister took Chloe out for a Girls' Night. Brad and I toured the Mall of Georgia, which was HUGE, and I even found a couple shirts and hats that were super cute. We even found a Cinnabun!!! I don't remember ever seeing a Cinnabun (in person) outside the Salt Lake Airport so of course I had to get one.
Today we ventured around town with Brad's mom and sister traveling from furniture shop to furniture shop, got a flat tire, went a home decor store, Walmart, and got home just in time to make some homemade mini pizzas and watch Rango. Chloe had so much fun at the home decor store because they had a bunch of children's chairs and even a children's recliner. She got to wear her Cinderella dress all day :)
Everything has been going well with the house. It passed it's general home inspection fine and even passed it's termite inspection. I had been worried about both and am now so relieved that it passed. We're happy to be under contract and that the ball is rolling. We still don't have a closing date but we're excited for it to get here.

Cake for Declan

I made a surprise cake in honor of Declan's arrival. It was made with chocolate cake filled with semi-sweet chocolate chips and covered with marshmallow fondant. It had a pug on top resembling their pug, Buddha.

Here are the rest of our pictures from our trip to Utah. As you can see, Chloe is my little future 4-H girl :)

Trip to Utah!

Chloe and I had such a wonderful time with my family in Utah. We traveled to meet my sister's brand new baby boy! He was born on Friday July 29 at 8:40 am and weighing 6 lbs and 11 oz. They named him Declan and he's the cutest little thing and we love him so much. Here are a bunch of pictures from our time there and a couple from the Tooele County Fair.
