Happy Fathers Day!!! We had a wonderful time out in Erda with my family again this weekend. My sister, Alyssa, and I took the dogs out to the Grantsville reservoir and hunted for some crawdads on Saturday morning. We all took my dad to the Demolition Derby that evening for Fathers' Day. It was a blast we and got to see some serious auto destruction. They also had a young man come out into the muddy area during intermission and propose to his girlfriend. There's nothing like mud, exhaust, funnel cakes, and romance. The announcer, along with the Tooele County royalty and Dairy Queen, scoured the arena for pieces of shrapnel that had come off the cars after each heat and would give it to any kid clinging to the fence at the base of the stands. There must have been nearly a hundred kids all scrambling to get a piece of those old cars. God Bless America. That's how life should be. Huntin' for crawdads and then going to a demolition derby where the Tooele County royalty and Dairy Queen gave kids hunks of sharp metal and plastic junk that had come off old cars. It goes to prove that kids don't need expensive toys to make them happy. They knew there was nothing cooler than the remnants of violence between a 1982 station wagon and a Crown Victoria.
